I am please
to announce we have two new WeComm leaders.
Todd
Dorschner, N9MY,
who will be WeComm's Network Administrator. Todd has been
active with WI ARES/RACES, EC Resources and WeComm for many
years. In this role, Todd will be taking over the
administrative ownership of WeComm's communication network.
Nick
Luther, K9NL,
will be WeComm's Network Designer. In this role, Nick will
work with both Todd and Bill Becks, WA8WG, WeComm's
Technical Director, in designing our network (both data and
RF) to ensure we are using the right technologies and they
work well together. Nick has been involved with ARES/RACES
in Winnebago County for many years, and has served as its EC
for several of those years.

WE9COM Fox Cities Winlink RMS
Relay Station has been completed and is operating.

WE9COM repeater in
Baldwin is nearing completion. The tower and
electrical work have been completed. The repeater is being built and
configured. Look for this system to be on the air by March 1, 2010.

WeComm, Ltd. is a Wisconsin nonprofit
organization created for the following purposes:

To support and
facilitate emergency, disaster, and public
service related communication systems and
services provided to government agencies, the
general public and private disaster relief
organizations by Amateur Radio Operators through
the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and the
Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service.
The primary purpose shall be the
construction and maintenance of a statewide
voice and digital wireless two-way communication
network.

Such other
activities as the directors may determine are
necessary or desirable in furtherance of the
forgoing paragraph. |
WeComm is designing and building statewide voice
repeater and digital data networks, which will be primarily
used by ARES/RACES to better serve its clients.
These networks will use state-of-the-art technology not
commonly used in Amateur Radio networks.
Repeaters and data
networks are now being constructed and acquired.
